Mauricio Pochettino was all praise for unsung hero Son.
Pochettino, who usually spends time preaching the gospel of Harry Kane suddenly had a new hero to talk about.
He said: “Son was very good, he is playing well. He is an important player for the team and his contribution was fantastic. His quality and mentality was good.
"He has now got 36 goals for Tottenham and we should give him the credit he deserves. He might not get in the media but we all know here what he can do.
“He is a lovely person and lovely to work with.
“We had to improve and we did. It's not so much relief because I always knew we had quality and I was always confident.
“The first goal was important. We have had not so good moments, but today we saw the future and how we are optimistic.
“It was nice to see Lamela back and hope the national team calls him. We are going to push him and show his true quality.
“As for Kane? That is 50 goals now for Harry in 2017 and it shows he is the best striker in the world. He is fantastic.”
Stoke manager Mark Hughes “I could legislate for the first goal, with two deflections but I didnt see the second half performance comng.
“We had a number of good moments and areas we could attack Spurs and even 1-0 I was encouraged by what I saw. We had to do the same in the second half but we didn't.
“At 3-0 it went away from us and we had to take our medicine, get out of here and prepare for Tuesday. Spurs strung us out and if there is any encouragement it was the first half, clearly not the second.
“We made key errors both singularly and collectively and Spurs are not a side you can do that. Once they got their tails up it was hard to effect them.”
